Radon Testing

Discover will place a CRM (continuous radon monitor) in the home for a minimum of 36 hours. Upon retrieval we will produce a report and provide guidance on the results. Radon gas should not be taken lightly and we price this service as competitively as possible to try and make it accessible to everyone. Learn more from the EPA about the hazards of Radon here.

Septic Inspection

We pride ourselves on being fully licensed by the state to carry out Septic Inspections. Having an Inspector that is licensed to perform both your Septic and Home Inspection is very beneficial and just another reason why Discover Home Inspections is your best choice. We also provide this as a stand alone service. Learn more from the EPA about Septic Systems and the responsibilities of maintaining them here.

Discover will swab suspected mold growth (or air duct) and send it to a certified Lab for identification. The report will provide information to help understand the level of concern. The price is per swab sent to the lab (usually only 1 is needed). Learn more about the hazards of mold from the EPA here.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a home inspection exactly?
It's a non-invasive inspection of the Structure, Exterior, Roof, Plumbing, Electrical, Hvac, Interior, Insulation/Ventilation, Fireplace, and built-in appliances. NC has specific inspection standards that must be met as a minimum concerning all the items listed above. Discover Home Inspections goes beyond these standards by using thermal imaging and drones.
  • Can I tag along during the inspection?
Absolutely! We encourage attendance and all the questions you can think of.
  • Why would I get a new home inspected?
I could write a whole book on this one but we'll keep it short and sweet. New Construction, especially in rapidly growing areas, is full of inexperienced contractors. There is no other choice as demand for sub-contractors grows (framers, roofers, plumbers, etc.), they have to hire and train new employees.
